Sun, 9 April 2006 This week's SomethingJewish was themed around Passover. We played SoCalled's The SoCalled Seder which is a hip hop interpretation of the traditional Passover service at home. You can get the album via JDub Records. In between tracks, it was Alan Eder and friends with his Reggae Passover. All great stuff! Comments[192] |
Sun, 19 March 2006 Another Sunday means another SomethingJewish Show from Leslie and Caroline, broadcast on Resonance FM on Sunday March 19 2006.
This week's eclectic playlist featured music from the likes of Joe Roff, David Krakauer, Jon Madof and Maurice el Medioni. Plus Dan from the British band Emunah joined us live on the phone. Leslie and Caroline also conducted an interesting experiment involving mixing the voice of the speaking clock with the music of Matisyahu - but was it a success? Tune in and find out. |
Sun, 12 February 2006 This week Caroline and Leslie have a special guest in the studio - Sista Warrior.
Plus, all the best in Jewish music. |
Sun, 5 February 2006 Tune in to another edition of the Something Jewish show, hosted by Leslie and Caroline, which was broadcast on Resonance FM on Sunday February 5 2006.
This week's programme featured another selection of Jewish music from all around the world, with artists including Maxwell Street Klezmer Band, Ishtar and 8th Day, as well as Pharoah's Daughter frontwoman Basya Schechter. In the Versus section of the show, meanwhile, ska was under the spotlight, as we featured tracks from two artists putting a Jewish spin on the genre - King Django and Klezska. The former blends ska rhythms with Yiddish melodies, the latter give a fresh spin to the likes of Ose Shalom and Fiddler On the Roof - but which got the Something Jewish vote? |

This week's programme was a packed music show featuring some of our favourite tunes, from artists including Golem, Emil Zrihan and David Lazzar, as well as two tracks from Joshua Sitron's album Biblical Digital. |
Sun, 8 January 2006 Join Leslie and Caroline for the latest edition of the Something Jewish show, broadcast on Resonance 104.4FM on Sunday 8th January 2006.
The first show of 2006 featured Jewish music from all around the world including tracks from Hip Hop Hoodios, Dobe Ressler and Marc Cohn, while in the versus section of the show it was the battle of the Jewish girl bands - klezmer combo Isle of Klezbos against middle eastern-influenced quartet Divahn. Two artists also made their debut on the show - YLove, a Hassidic rapper from the States, and Omri Levy, an Israeli singer who recently released his new album Swim. Leslie and Caroline featured a track from his album and revealed more about him. |
Sun, 18 December 2005 Check out the latest edition of the Something Jewish Show with Leslie and Caroline, broadcast on Resonance 104.4FM on Sunday 18th December 2005.
This week, Leslie was in the studio while Caroline was at home over the phone, due to feeling somewhat poorly (Leslie suggested it was down to too much drinking in the run-up to the festive season) In the studio, Leslie played music from artists including David Lazzar, Sista Warrior, Alan Goldberg and Matisyahu, while giving frum rapper Jew da Maccabi his UK radio debut. Javier was back from his week's break. We also bigged up the musical instrument known as the lyre, which was popular around King David's time but somehow fell out of fashion. Now musician Alan Goldberg has revived it and one listener phoned in to tell us a bit about it. The Something Jewish show will be back on January 8 2006. Shows on December 25 and January 1 will be repeats, as Resonance is taking a well-earned break on these dates. Comments[65] |
Sun, 11 December 2005 Tune into another edition of the Something Jewish Show with Leslie and Caroline, broadcast on Resonance 104.4FM on Sunday 11th December 2005.
This week, Leslie and Caroline played music from artists including Moshav Band, Izabo, and Duo Esperanto - plus in the versus section of the show it was the battle of the Ortho-rockers, as White Shabbos took on 8th Day. One act performs rock music with a country and western feel, while the others are known for their Jewish-flavoured blues - but which got our vote? Plus Leslie and Caroline discussed British female reggae performer Sista Warrior, who was played on the show for the first time. Caroline approved, but Leslie wasn't too sure about some of the wording on the sleeve of her debut album Valiant Woman. Comments[52] |

This week, Leslie and Caroline played music from artists including: Divahn, David Lazzar, Wolf Krakowski and Alan Goldberg. Plus, the versus section of the show focused on two male solo artists - Craig Taubman and Rebbesoul Both artists are renowned for their religious and spiritually-themed music - but which one got our vote? Plus exclusive - having spoken to George Michael last week, we revealed his Jewish connection. Comments[50] |
Sun, 13 November 2005 Check out the Something Jewish show with Leslie and Caroline, broadcast on Resonance 104.4FM on Sunday 13 November 2005
This week, Leslie and Caroline played music from artists including Maxwell Street Klezmer Band, David Krakauer, Frank London's Klezmer Brass Allstars and Pharoah's Daughter. Plus, in the versus series of the show it was Australia's Yidcore against California's The Makkabees. Leslie and Caroline discussed the merits of both bands - but what exactly did they say? And who did they choose as the winner? Comments[69] |
Sun, 6 November 2005 The latest Something Jewish show from Leslie and Caroline, which went out on Resonance104.4fm on November 7.
This week, Leslie and Caroline played music from artists including Oi Va Voi and Makkabees. Plus, in the versus section of the show it was battle of the Jewish reggae performers, as Adonai and I squared off against Matisyahu. Leslie and Caroline were also faced with the dilemma of a pungent odour in the studio, which had been lingering for possibly days. Engineer Javier had to leave midway through the show to buy air freshener, in order for everyone to stay around long enough to complete the programme. We discussed the merits of festive scented air freshener - but why nothing Jewish? Comments[38] |
Sun, 30 October 2005 Leslie and Caroline recorded another excellent SomethingJewish Show broadcast live on London's Resonance104.4fm radio station.
Today's show was a show of two halves. In the first half we played music from the likes of King Django, White Shabbos and Pharoah's Daughter. In the second half of the show it's Golem versus the Klezmatics. We played tunes from both of them and revealed the winner in this battle of the bands. Click on the podcast to find out more.
