This week's programme featured another selection of Jewish music from all around the world, with tracks from artists including Hip Hop Hoodios, Wolf Krakowski, Pharoah's Daughter and Frank London's Klezmer Brass Allstars, as well as a new band to the show, Kletka Red. Meanwhile the Versus section of the show took a trip back in time with old school klezmer giants Dave Tarras and Naftule Brandwein going head to head. The first show of 2006 featured Jewish music from all around the world including tracks from Hip Hop Hoodios, Dobe Ressler and Marc Cohn, while in the versus section of the show it was the battle of the Jewish girl bands - klezmer combo Isle of Klezbos against middle eastern-influenced quartet Divahn. Two artists also made their debut on the show - YLove, a Hassidic rapper from the States, and Omri Levy, an Israeli singer who recently released his new album Swim. Leslie and Caroline featured a track from his album and revealed more about him. |
